Candidate Enhancements & Welfare
Under PMKVY 4.0, the scheme targets lakhs of youth to empower them with industry-relevant skills, focusing on the age group of 15-45 years, with completely free training and assessment.
Introduction of counselling through online information/counselling platforms, counselling helplines, or district-level skill information centres is envisaged to remove information asymmetry. This ensures unbiased counselling so that needy and motivated youth are encouraged to join the skilling movement.
Every certified candidate will be provided with three-year accidental insurance (Kaushal Bima) of Rs. 2 lakhs. This helps increase aspirations among youth, indemnifies the candidates, and reduces on–the-job risks.
The scheme continues to be inclusive by ensuring higher participation rates from deprived groups, women, transgender individuals, and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) through enhanced support and targeted mobilization.
Greater cross-utilization of training capacities is being made through the integration of the Skill Hub Initiative with Universities, Colleges, ITIs, Polytechnics, and Schools to bring training closer to the candidates.
Training Inductions & Kits
Under PMKVY, each enrolled trainee in applicable job roles will get an induction kit comprising of the following items along with a participant handbook:
- T-shirt (Male) or Jacket (Female)
- Diary & ID Card holder with Lanyard
- Participant Backpack
Capacity Building & International Standards
The scheme aims to be compatible with international standards by provisioning add-on bridge courses and language courses. In the long run, this will provide more international employment opportunities to Indian youth. This is supported by enhanced Sector Skill Councils (SSCs) offering regional Centres of Excellence (CoEs) and robust Training of Trainers (ToT) programs.
