Placement Under PMKVY 4.0

Placement refers to providing wage- or self-employment to candidates, trained and certified under PMKVY.

In case of wage employment, candidates shall be placed in jobs that provide wages at least equal to minimum wages prescribed, and such candidates should continue to be in jobs for a minimum period of three months, from the date of placement in the same or a higher level with the same or any other employer.

PMKVY envisages to link the aptitude, aspiration, and knowledge of the skilled workforce it creates with employment opportunities and demands in the market. Every effort thereby needs to be made by the PMKVY Training Centres (TCs) to provide placement opportunities to candidates, trained and certified under the Scheme.

Entrepreneurship Support:
Training Partners (TPs) shall also provide support for entrepreneurship development to certified candidates who wish to set up their own enterprises or engage in self-employment.

Key Placement Objectives

  • To align the skilled workforce created under PMKVY with employment opportunities and demands in the market.
  • To provide post-placement support, tracking, and counseling to candidates to ensure career retention and progression.
  • To encourage entrepreneurship by linking candidates with Mudra loans and other financial support schemes.
  • To incentivize Training Partners (TPs) upon successful placement and retention of candidates.

Post-Placement Tracking

To ensure that the placement translates into sustained employment, Training Partners are mandated to track placed candidates for a continuous period. The post-placement tracking mechanism includes:

  • Documenting valid proof of employment (e.g., Offer Letter, Salary Slips, Bank Statements).
  • Conducting regular follow-ups to ascertain candidate satisfaction and address grievances.
  • Recording self-employment details including Trade License, GST Registration, or Proof of Enterprise.

Rozgar Melas

Training Partners are encouraged to organize placement drives and Rozgar Melas with the participation of local industries and Sector Skill Councils (SSCs) to facilitate bulk hiring of skilled youth in their respective sectors. Candidates are advised to stay in touch with their Training Centers to get updates on upcoming Rozgar Melas in their districts.
